Types Of Contraceptive Pills (Combined And Mini Pills)

The Contraceptive pill is available in two main types, 

(1)   Combined Pills.

(2)   Mini Pills.

 

Combined Pills (The Pill)

The Combined Pills are also known as "The Pill". An artificial version of female hormones estrogen and progesterone are exist in The Pill

Most of the pills contain hormones, (Active pills). Others are inactive pills (sugar pills), which means they don’t contain hormones. There are several types of combination pills:

  • Monophasic pills:
  • Multiphasic pills
  • Extended-cycle pills

The Combined Contraceptive Pill is the most popular Birth control method in the world with perfect use. It can be up to 99.9% effective contraceptive pills.   


Our hormonal Birth Control Options that work to stop the egg and sperm eating. So they can't be fertilized. Most pills are taken in a cycle every day for three weeks and then stopping for a week.   

The aim of Birth Control Options are to prevent the egg and sperm from devouring one other. As a result, they are unable to be fertilized.

 The "Mini-Pill" is a birth control pill that solely contains progestin. Estrogen and Progestin are two feminine hormones used in regular Birth Control Pill (a synthetic version of the naturally occurring hormone progesterone).

Taken correctly, the mini pill is at least 99 percent effective at preventing pregnancy. Allowing for mistakes is 93 percent effective.

 

Some of the Disadvantages of Mini Pill

 

·         It must be taken at the same time every day.

·         It is less effective then the combined pill as a contraceptive.

·         It is only available on prescription.

·         It may result in spotting or irregular vaginal bleeding.

·         It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
